Enjoying the James May travel series in Japan on Amazon Prime. Recommended!

Japan is a fascinating place and I have loved visiting there. I would have loved to have lived there for a while but alas, it wasn’t possible. I’m thinking of going back there again this year. I just saw that James May of Top Gear fame has done a travel documentary on Amazon Video. I’m halfway through it and have really enjoyed it.

Loved the bits in Tokyo and Sendai so far.

I should start looking for flights soon…

Snapsort

Photography, Tech

Snapsort is a site I have just discovered. Since I had a crash last week, my Canon S95 is damaged beyond repair. In the same week, the Samsung EX2F has been announced and from the specs, seems like an incredible camera. The problem is that I need a carry-around camera particularly for low-light situations where the iPhone 4S camera just does not perform very well. So I was looking for something that was cheaper and would serve as a backup camera after I get the EX2F when it’s available (or the LX6/LX7?). After digging around amazon and dpreview, I saw the great reviews for the IXUS 220 (or the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 H for North American readers)  I found the snapsort site and put in some comparisons.

Here is the comparison between the Canon IXUS 220 IS versus the Powershot S95

Surprising? 😉

Time to get that 220 IS before the weekend!

Copyright restrictions just lost another sale

I love reading Seth Goldin’s blog for tips and interesting reading material. He posted a list of interesting books that he recently read, of which the first book on the list – The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love, and Create a New Future by Chris Guillebeau looked really interesting. When I go to the Kindle app and look to buy the book, I get the message that the book is not available in my geographical area. Now the moment is lost and I may never buy this book. Those copyright restrictions just cost the author and publisher a sale.
