The first photographs I took were on a school trip to Connemara in 1985. I just noticed that it was exactly 30 years ago today that we started the trip.

Climbing one of the Twelve Bens on the first day of the trip. To say that we were unprepared would be an understatement!
Chris point the way to an unimpressed Chris. John looks nonplussed.
The wind and rain was quite brutal. Unfortunately, we were nowhere near the top at this point.
This was the top of the mountain. Now looking relieved to a downward stroll.
Engaging in some spiritual reflection on the way down.

Nice weather on the one day that we didn’t climb any mountains.

Groundbreaking, Tech, Thought Provoking, Travel, WebI love this article, a neat and practical way of developing the world in which we live.

Whether the goal is to prevent cholera or crime, Missing Maps is a crucial first step. For much of the developing world, our current digital maps may as well say ‘Here there be dragons.’ There’s a long way to go, but someone has at last picked up a sword.
Folding a suit for travel
Style, Travel, VideoFound this cool video on the Pariasian Gentleman site.
It seems to be much more efficient than using a suitbag. He also shows how to fold a shirt for travel at the end.
The worst football violence I have witnessed
1990s, Football, Travel, VideoJust chatting with someboday and they brought up the subject of football violence. I’ve been to quite a few games and I was thinking which one was the worst in terms of violence. It was actually the first international game that I went to. Poland against England in 1993 in Katowice. Luckily, there is a video on youtube that shows some of the mayhem that went on that day.
The violence only took place among the Polish fans. The English fans were barricaded into their own section and surrounded by police. I was sitting on the other side of the stadium and I think that I spent more time watching the terraces rather than the football itself.
The game ended 1-1.
