Helsinki under lock-down – Video from 22 April 2020

2020s, Finland, Helsinki, Travel, Video

Another one of the skills that I am learning is editing video. Thanks to tutorials on YouTube,  I managed to put the video above together as a start using Lumafusion on the iPad. I’m interested to see how this skill can develop in combination with going on bike rides around the city. It was just shot on a Samsung S9 and even though it uses slow motion, the footage is quite shaky. Going to try some other cameras for comparable results.

Dear @youtube, please provide an option to remove the pause overlay.

2020s, Music, Video, Web

I’m a huge fan of YouTube and have learnt a lot from many of the tutorial videos on there from photography to cooking. Today, I have been trying to recreate a video reconstructing the song Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz from Point Blank Music school.

At some points in the video, I want to pause it to see the pattern in Ableton that is being shown and recreate it in BeatMaker 3 on the iPad. However, each time I pause a YouTube video, this overlay comes up when I want to see the full screen.

It would be great to have an option to turn off the overlay, especially when I paying for the premium package.

By the way, here is a link to the video in question. Highly recommended if you like to see behind the scenes of a work.

Achill Island off season video – One Shot Adventures

2010s, Achill, Ireland, Travel, Video

Loved this video and saw it come up again on my YouTube feed. Posted it before on Twitter but wanted to put it here on my blog. Really nice shots of some parts of Achill even if other parts of the island were missed.

The worst football violence I have witnessed

1990s, Football, Travel, Video

Just chatting with someboday and they brought up the subject of football violence. I’ve been to quite a few games and I was thinking which one was the worst in terms of violence. It was actually the first international game that I went to. Poland against England in 1993 in Katowice. Luckily, there is a video on youtube that shows some of the mayhem that went on that day.

The violence only took place among the Polish fans. The English fans were barricaded into their own section and surrounded by police. I was sitting on the other side of the stadium and I think that I spent more time watching the terraces rather than the football itself.

The game ended 1-1.
