Finland, Helsinki, PhotographyWorld ice hockey final 2014
Finland, Helsinki, Ice Hockey, Photography, SportFinland made it to the final of the annual world ice hockey tournament. This tournament loses value in that it is held every year, including years when the Olympics are on and doesn’t feature the top players who are appearing in NHL finals. It would be the equivalent if holding the World Cup at the same time as the later stages of the champions league.
Still the final last Sunday was an enjoyable occasion. It seems that one Helsinki bar has worked out that a terrace + huge clear screen + rock band in Finland shirts and kilts is a winning formula. That bar was working all night and even outside the terrace, many bystanders watched the game with drinks purchased there. Would it be too much to expect the same experience during the World Cup?

Helsinki to Dublin
Business, Dublin, Finland, Helsinki, Ireland, TravelJust boarded the flight from Helsinki to Dublin. It is absolutely packed out. A demonstration of how much demand is on this route. Congratulations Norwegian for giving consumers what they wanted!

Finland, Helsinki, PhotographyNorwegian airlines now offers direct weekend flights between Helsinki and Dublin all year round. #aerlingus #norwegian #helsinki #dublin
Dublin, Finland, Helsinki, Ireland, TravelI was searching for a flight home yesterday and was surprised when hipmunk found a direct flight between Helsinki and Dublin. When I saw it was offered by Norwegian Airlines, I headed to kayak.com as they offer a tool for looking up direct flights from any airport. In addition to the usual Aer Lingus schedule (Saturday and Tuesday), I saw that Norwegian offer direct flights on Friday and Monday which is much more sensible for a weekend break. I personally prefer this schedule and have already booked an extra trip with Norwegian. I wonder why the schedule planning team in Aer Lingus couldn’t have offered what the city break consumer wanted on the Dublin- Helsinki route?

Finland, MusicI was just thinking about how it has been so long since I have heard a new album from the people around Nuspirit Helsinki and the Five Corners Quintet that I did a search on youtube. I found the above piece which sounds great. I’ll be looking to buy that album on my next music buying spree.
